A litany for the XX! Century (CD)

In 1987, Wolfgang Plagge composed A litany for the 21st Century, an overwhelming sonata in two movements unreservedly expressing the young Norwegian composer’s desolation on contemplating the Berlin wall. As a path of intellectual and musical preoccupations, this CD brings the listener some of the most beautiful scores for horn and piano from the second half of last century, from anguish but also hope in the work of Plagge, to the lyricism of Burkhard, the virtuosity of Egea or the iconoclastic folklore of Mahle. This is music of exceptional quality which, in the performance by Javier Bonet and Aníbal Bañados, not only takes on its true artistic-temporal dimension but also approaches the most avant garde sensibilities of recent years.

En 1987 Wolfgang Plagge escribió A litany for the 21st. Century, una sobrecogedora sonata en dos movimientos que expresa sin ambages la desolación del joven compositor noruego al contemplar el muro de Berlín. Como un reguero de inquietudes intelectuales y musicales este compacto de Verso nos acerca algunas de las páginas más bellas destinadas a la trompa y el piano durante la segunda mitad del pasado siglo XX, desde la angustia, y también la esperanza, presente en la obra de Plagge al lirismo de Burkhard, el virtuosismo de Egea o el folclore iconoclasta de Mahle. Una música de excepcional calidad que en interpretación de Javier Bonet y Aníbal Bañados no sólo adquiere su verdadera dimensión artístico-temporal sino que, también, nos aproxima al espíritu de las sensibilidades más vanguardistas de los últimos años.
